I'm just not a lime girl

The Namaste Zuma bag is so cool, and so excited I was, I jumped at the chance to buy one in LIME! What was I thinking? Do I even wear green? No. Do I ever wear lime? No. It's brand new and now I don't know what to do with it.

It's a little too expensive to just give away. Ugh. Maybe I should just learn to wear lime green?

Making me some stitch markers

So, my friend Jaye says I need to get an Etsy Shop. To that end, I thought I ought to make some things. I'm going to make some stitch markers, some for me, some for my knitty friends, and some for my super secret swap partner. I know her, but she might be secretly perusing my blog, so no names yet!

I'll post some pictures when they're ready. I guess I'll need some beads.

Maybe I'll ask Carma if she has any she wants to let go of. I don't know if that's a possibility. I know I'm very unwilling to give up yarn stash. I end up buying yarn for people I'm teaching how to knit rather than give up stash. It's hard for me right now. I'll let you know how it goes. oooh! Project!

Aack! Mistake!

I found a systematic error in my DSL for you know who. It still looks cool though, so I'm just going to continue on with it. I'm almost done with it anyhow. I've finished the back, and halfway up one of the front splits. So, really it's nearly done. When I make this again, I'll correct the error. The crazy thing is that I saw it early on, but I checked and double checked my instructions and they were correct as far as I could see. But apparently, they were not! Oh well, it still looks super cool to me.

Gabriela and Dermot's Wedding Present

I'm not late. It's a year's grace for wedding presents.
Six sterling silver AA Webster monogrammed "C" spoons in a custom case (made by me) in chocolate satin and red fleece, held in a fabric covered box (again, made by me) in chocolate satin and red peau de soie.
The case has a slot for each spoon and a flap to cover it. Folded into thirds the satin case has two sashes to tie it up. The box is covered on the top with the same chocolate brown satin that was used to make the case. The red peau de soie was used to echo the wedding colors.
I love it, and I hope they do too.

Drop Stitch Lace Tank

I love this so much I can't even tell you. The fact that I'm not keeping it and making it for someone else it's a practice in humility. Why am I so stingy? It's so pretty. I was knitting it when I went to Calistoga with Michael. Sitting outside with McCool by my side next to the vineyard and a lovely view of the hills that surround Calistoga.
The yarn is Mirasol Tupa. 50% Silk, 50% Merino wool. So soft, so shiny. I'd say who it was for, but I have no idea if she reads my blog. So...it's a secret.

Little Tins Mini-Swap

Here's some cute stuff I got from my swap mate on Ravelry. There's a knitting register, fancy name for a row counter, which I really needed. A tin that she decorated to look like concrete and inside it's all blue suede inside! A sample of "soak" for washing my knitted loverlys. A little sharpie that can be hung from a string or tied to something. A pink and brown book to write things in. A little tin that says "knitting girl", that's me!
The second picture is what I sent. I sent her a knit.com u button, a tin with a "P" on it. A little crochet hook fob to add to her key chain, or just clip onto her purse or knitty bag (which I made myself!). Colored liners, which will help you follow a chart. A little zip bag for holding her dpns. A green green tea mint tin from Trader Joe's. And a little chocolate Lindt bunny for Easter. So cute right?

Do all nineteen eye glass pouches!

I realize that you have to have a weird connection to pop rock and odd musicals to get any of my references. But there you have it. I entertain my own self! I finally got the serger out of the box after buying it maybe three years ago. Maybe just two. Anyhow, I've never used one, but it came with a DVD. The DVD explained how to thread it, so after that, I tried a project from a sewing show about serging. They made eye glass pouches, so I pulled out the leftover fabric from Keani's quilt and started cutting and serging. Nineteen pouches later....I know how to use my serger!!! At least for the four thread part. It's pretty cool, and so far I like her very much. Her name is Imagine, but I'm going to pronounce it with the french pronunciation eee-mo-jean. She's so cute.

If you have glasses, tell me which one you like and if I still have it and haven't given it away, I'll send it to you. The inside fabric is different from the outside fabric. 100% cotton, machine washable and dryable. What's your address?

Hot Pink Christmas

I made this for my Christmas sweater last year (2008). It's Patons Shetland Chunky, 5 skeins, size 11 needles, and the pattern is Julia Allen's Anthropologie-Inspired Capelet. It's the one where she wanted the little cardigan in Anthropologie but couldn't afford it, so she went home and wrote up a pattern herself. On Ravelry, there are 1787 other people who have done this little cardigan. Isn't that crazy? And think of all the other people who made it on Craftster.org. It's such a cute story, and I've made several from this pattern.
