Koigu

This is the Koigu I bought. Isn't it pretty?

Stitches West 2009

Beth and I drove down to Santa Clara. We stopped at Starbucks and got some coffee, because coffee is loverly, especially on special occasions like Stitches West! So, I had to share my stash! Beth bought me a beautiful variegated blue 100% bamboo sock yarn from Anzula. It's hand dyed and I can't wait to have a pair of socks with it! The white yarn is an 85% Angora 15% Merino wool that is so soft! It's fantastic and came with a swirly shawl pattern. I'm so excited about making it!
Now for the Noro. I bought two colorways of Cash Iroha, it's a silk/cashmere/wool/nylon freak of nature from Japan. I'm over the moon just looking at them. They are fabulous and I don't know what I'm going to make, but it'll be so cute!!!
Beth bought a single ball of Quivuit, and it's so beautiful. The prettiest taupey-pink you ever saw. She's going to use my scarf pattern that I designed last November. Still have to name it.

Serena Gloves

These are my Serena Gloves. Serena because of the Chamorro legend of Serena, the mermaid. These mermaid gloves were developed by Stephanie Degen using the Pomatamus Socks pattern on Knitty.com. They really do look like fish scales don't they?
Size 5, 3.75mm needles, Argosy Zen 2 Ply, 100% Cashmere yarn. I'm only through most of one glove. I love these! I can't wait to wear them. I'm going to add half fingers.

Dots and Squiggles, it's a French Press Cozy!

I've been wanting to make a tea cozy, but lately I've been using my French Press coffee maker more than the tea pot. So, I decided to make a cozy for the French Press first. I used some old yarn that is acrylic, so I can toss it in the washer and dryer. The pattern is the blister pattern from Surface. I just loved the way the bobbles were dots and lines, or squiggles. I added two rows of purl just to stabilize the end and the little ties are single crochet worked twice.
So cute! And since I drink coffee fairly slowly, it will be nice to have a cozy to keep it warm.
Revision! After watching my cozy slowly sag down. I decided it needed a little propping up, so I added two little ties to the top. Blogger is funny and orders photos in reverse order of how you load them, so the most current photos are the first two pictures. I think it looks and works better. I needed the cozy to cover more of the french press, so it do its job most efficiently.

Namaste Laguna!

She arrived! I've already packed her up with my current project (Surface by Norah Gaughan). It's an awesome bag and I love love love it! It's a knitting bag. It has separate compartments inside to help you organize your knitty project. Lots of pockets inside. It could be just a regular bag, but it's a knitty bag and I love it!
Isn't it the cutest? And it's big! It'll be perfect for traveling.
